Arches National Park contains the highest concentration of natural arches in the world. It has over 2,000 arches, in addition to soaring fins of stone and immense balanced rocks. The park contains the longest arch in the world, Landscape Arch, which spans 290 feet. Double Arch, which has an opening 104 feet tall, has the tallest arch in the park. Due to the methods of erosion from wind, rain, and ice, the arches are very precarious and each represents a distinct moment in time. New arches are forming, and others have toppled. The Ancestral Puebloan people once made their home in this area, and petroglyphs and rock art panels remain.
