Everglades, Florida
Read Evan’s blog post about his trip to Everglades HERE
Everglades National Park is an enormous protected area of wetland habitat in the Florida Everglades. It was originally home to the Seminole and Miccosukee nations, most of whom were forcibly removed to Oklahoma. But some stayed behind and now live in nearby reservations. The Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation has a large tourism industry and offers tours of their part of the wetlands, and a museum devoted to their culture and history. The Everglades are full of countless wading birds, alligators, crocodiles, turtles, and other wildlife, as well as many recreational opportunities.
