Volcanoes, Hawai’i

Read Evan’s blog post about his trip to Volcanoes HERE

Surrounding the active volcanoes Kilaeua and Mauna Loa, the park contains active lava flows as well as preserved lava flows from previous recent eruptions. The park is constantly changing, adding new landforms and destroying others. In March of 2018, an enormous eruption of Kilaeua destroyed central parts of the park, completely changing the landscape and shutting the park for several weeks, and forcing many to flee their homes.
