Redwood, California

Home to the tallest trees in the world, Redwood National and State Parks protect an incredible stretch of old-growth coastal redwood forest and shoreline. The tallest redwoods can measure over 350 feet tall, and some are over 2,000 years old. Many support entire ecosystems. Many other areas of old-growth redwood forest were logged and cleared before the establishment of the park, and forests are still being cut today. Modern Yurok, Tolowa, Karok, Chilula, and Wiyot Native groups all still have ties to the area, and many still live there.
