Shenandoah, Virginia

One of only a few National Parks in the east, Shenandoah lies under two hours from Washington DC. The smooth, lush green hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains extend on either side of the Skyline Drive, falling in soft layers into the horizon. Because it is a very old mountain range, the mountains have been weathered and softened with age, in comparison to a relatively new range like the Rockies. The park has abundant wildlife such as white-tailed deer, black bear, chipmunks, and songbirds.
